NRS 50 Anniversary SCAPE flier
October 24, 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm
October 25, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Montecito Country Club

Join the Natural Reserve System and our friends at SCAPE for an art show and sale to benefit the UCSB NRS at the Montecito Country Club. All paintings will highlight UCSB’s beautiful reserves. A reception and brief program at 4pm on Saturday afternoon will celebrate contributing artists and friends of the UCSB NRS.

SCAPE is made up of 200 active members from across the country who work through art to support environmental and open space conservation efforts through art sales and other efforts. In addition to raising over $200k for environmental causes to date, SCAPE also raises awareness. Our artists fan out and find scenes worth painting in local parks, threatened open and agricultural space, wilderness areas and, in this case, UCSB Nature Reserves. UCSB's Reserves, including Coal Oil Point, Sedgwick Ranch, the Carpinteria Salt Marsh and others are some of our artists' favorite places to paint. SCAPE deeply appreciates the efforts of all those who have have worked to conserve these wonderful areas forever.

SCAPE's artists are also members of the Oak Group (Larry Iwerks, Marcia Burtt, Ann Sanders); many are active or retired art professors at local colleges (Nina Warner, Libby Smith and others). Some are career artists, who work in graphics (Cyndi Burt) or illustration (Jane Hurd in medical illustration). While most paint landscapes, many also paint abstracts, still life, or figures.
