Over 80 University classes use the UCSB reserves as outdoor laboratories each year. Students come to reserves to learn about native plants and animals in their natural habitats; practice research methodologies and sampling techniques; observe and study geological formations, geographical features of landscapes, and traces of past cultures; and be inspired by the wonders of the natural world. The NRS supports opportunities for student research and participation in reserve management activities through grants and internships. For more details go to the Our Reserves tab.
